Is sugar just as sweet despite a clever alias? Nutritional experts say absolutely, and point out that it’s important to know sugar’s different guises as we all need to be eating a whole lot less of it. These days it’s hard to find “sugar” listed on the sweet-tasting ingredient label. Instead, these secret sugar sources go under cover with different monikers. What’s more, there’s plenty of added sugar in foods that don’t even taste all that sweet.
You toss and turn. And you count sheep until the cows come home. But did you know that getting insufficient shut-eye could be making you fat?
How can you lose weight without dieting? Mini-fasts or intermittent fasting is another “old” concept that is “new” again. Think about it this way: Paleolithic man almost certainly did not have access to daily 2,500-calorie diets rich in carbohydrates and fat.
At this writing, plenty of Americans – in the East, Midwest and even the South — are enduring the winter of 2014-2015 chills. And so what do we do when the mercury plummets? Turn up the thermostat, of course! You see, we modern Americans have been programed to crank up the heat in the winter.
You know that “I can’t believe I ate the whole thing” feeling? Perhaps you’ve been eating sensibly, but somehow you feel puffy and uncomfortable? This temporary abdominal distension is commonly known as belly bloat and it is different than the extra weight that many wrestle with.
Recently, conflicting information has emerged on the topic of fasting, starvation and weight gain. On the one hand, there is the ‘starvation myth’ based on the theory that starving oneself to lose weight can cause weight gain. However, on the other hand, there is now compelling new research showing the beneficial effects of caloric restriction, e.g., weight loss, decreased oxidative stress, inflammation, and increased longevity.
Face it, maintaining a healthy weight can be a struggle, but add an aging metabolism into the mix and it can seem like an impossible battle. No doubt you know first hand that fewer calories are required as you age. Exercise (especially aerobic) is a proven aid in this never-ending balancing act.
It’s one of the most frustrating dilemmas of aging – a sluggish metabolism. Unfortunately, as we age, we burn fewer calories a day. But don’t despair; there are easy ways to stoke your fat-burning potential. Here are three simple tips for cranking up your internal flame.
Live Better Longer
Your true biological age is determined not by years but by the state of your body’s structure and functions.
There are two remarkable benefits that healthy aging offers:
First: don’t get sick as you age.
Second: restore your health and eliminate your health concerns
The key to healthy aging is a robust energy metabolism which supplies cellular fuel you use to maintain your health.
The more regularly we supply our bodies with appropriate nutrition, the better our health will be. You can take control of your health and have a vibrant and active life.
